WORLD DIABETES DAY; WALKATHON TO CREATE AWARENESS

Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Chairman of the KLE Society flagged off the rally from Rani Channamma Circle which culminated at KLES Hospital. The Medical students, staff of KLES Hospital, USM-KLE Medical College and B M Kankanwadi Ayurvedic College, Soldiers of Indo-Tibetan Border Force took part in the walk. The placards carrying the message of prevention of Diabetes was highlight of the walk.

Dr. H B Rajasekhar Senior Physician in his address highlighted the importance of diet, exercise, regular follow-up with Doctors and medication to lead a healthy life. All diabetics can lead a healthy life if they keep stress levels at low and called on participants to keep the blood sugar under control.

Children of Diabetic patients are likely to have early onset of Diabetes such families should take extreme care and visit their doctors for the screening of diabetes. Dr. Jali, Chief Diabetologist urged the parents to keep their children away from junk food, cola and advised them to have regular outdoor plays and exercise.

Dr. N S Mahantshetti, Dr. V A Kothiwale, Dr. Srinivas Prasad spoke on the occasion. Free blood glucose test and Consultations were offered to over 150 patients.
