Channappa Halasgi (72) retired secretary primary agricultural cooperative credit society expired due to old age ( 5-6-2019) This is the first skin donation from this village.

To fulfill the last wishes of the father family members donated Deceased skin and Body through Bailhongal based Dr. Ramannavar Charitable Trust.

The skin of the donor donated to KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital Rotary Skin Bank Belagavi and Dr. Mahantesh Ramannavar Professor and head Dept of Anatomy KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research Shri B.M.K Ayurveda MedicalCollege, Deemed to be University, Belagavi.

Skin donated for burn victims

Before receiving the body he addressed the villagers about the importance of skin and body donation Skin is harvested can be used to burn victims. Within 6 hours from the donor’s Body, the sight of the harvest is from the Back of the body and Lower Limbs of the donor. The harvested skin is used for Burn Patients for a speedy recovery, to control the Infection, improvement in the chances of Survival and can reduce Burn Patient Hospital Stay.

The Harvested Skin can be stored for up to 5 years and can be used as and when needed Chief Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Dr. In charge KLE Rotary Skin Bank Dr. Rajesh S Pawar has expressed sincere gratitude to Halasagi family members.

As per the last wishes of the deceased body donated through Bailhongal Based Dr. Ramannavar charitable trust to The Dept of Anatomy to Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS), Belagavi for medical research. The body would be used for Medical education and research.

Anatomy Dept head Dr. Umesh Kulkarni, Dr. Rajendra Bijapur and Ravindra Basappa Bagewadi and Dr. Mahantesh Ramannavar made all arrangement for skin and body donation. The donor is survived by son and daughter.
