Exchange of Professional skills is essence of learning: Dr. G Siddesh

Medical Science is evolving leaps and bounds of the medical fraternity must be abreast with the latest skills, knowledge, techniques and should update their learning abilities stressed Dr. G Siddesh, National President of Association of Surgeons. He was speaking after inaugurating the 40th CME of J N Medical College Scientific Society at KLE Centenary Convention Centre at Belagavi.

            Continuous learning, adopt to changing technologies, enhancing skills are hall marks of the surgeons. He urged the participants the basics of surgical skills are strength and revisit to basics is the aptly chosen topic and congratulated Dr. Shrishail Metgud, the organising chairman and his team for selecting the theme. He recalled many of the best practices, programs & projects of the JN Medical College are replicated & implemented in J S S Medical College, Mysore. Exchange of thoughts, ideas & innovations are part of the learning process which ultimately culminate in developing of surgical skills.

Later, delivering Dr. B S Jirge Oration, Dr. G Siddesh highlighted that more female folks are entering medical profession which is a welcoming change. Non communicable diseases particularly cancer disease is on the rise and changing face of the disease is a challenge to medical fraternity. Aging population and complications of aging needs special attention.

Dr. Vivek Saoji, Vice Chancellor of KAHER stated, gathering knowledge, developing surgical skills is essential for delivering quality health care. He called on Practitioners must regularly participate in the act of sharing knowledge to offer best care to patients. Being a lifelong learner is the hall mark of medical profession he said. Medical professionals can thrive and progress only through research, the KAHER has ample of funds earmarked for good research projects, which must ultimately benefit the society.

Dr. Anita Dalal, HOD of OBG on behalf of her department received best department for presenting highest number of complex and unusual cases.

Dr. V A Kothiwale, Registrar KAHER, Dr. N S Mahantshetti, Principal J N Medical College spoke on the occasion. Dr. Shrishail Metgud welcomed and introduced the Chief Guest. Dr. Ramesh Koujalgi proposed vote of thanks.
