Anemia is the commonest and widespread health problem in India with an estimated prevalence of 50% among school children. Iron deficiency major cause of anemia in children. It has a significant impact on cognitive function, behavior and school performance of the children.

Anemia Mukt Bharat is a flagship program of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under POSHAN Abhiyaan. The program aims at reducing anemia by 3 percent every year from 2018 to 2022 through a life cycle approach with T3 camps at schools/colleges.

T3 Strategy to Combat Anaemia.

  • Test: By the lab technicians using digital invasive hemoglobin meters for instant results
  • Treat: Prescription by the medical doctors on Iron Folic Acid dosage and frequency
  • Talk: Counseling of children by nutritionists and dieticians on nutritious and fortified food items to combat anemia

Rajalakshmi Children Foundation in association with Lake view Foundation and BHS Lake view Hospital Goaways Belagavi Conducted Anemia Camps in 2018 among 1500 Government School Children of Belagavi city tested for hemoglobin values, finding revealed nearly 40 percent children were anemic, moderate and severe anemic children were treated with Iron and Folic Acid haematinic syrup for three months. Every child made to know their hemoglobin values and dietary Counseling was done to improve the compliance of weekly iron and folic acid supplementation program (WIFS).Rescreening of targetted 500 children done in 2019.
