7 aborted foetuses at Mudalgi Belagavi- hospital seized

In the shocking case of dumping of 7 foetuses in a gutter in Mudalagi town of Belagavi district, the DHO and police have sealed Venkateshwara Maternity hospital and Scanning Centre after conducting raids and investigating the matter.

Mahesh Koni, District Health Officer (DHO) was leading the investigation

and has sealed Venkateshwara Maternity hospital and Scanning Centre in Mudalgi village for the same.

As per the report the foetuses were aborted three years ago at the hospital and were preserved in bottles and were handed over to the staff for disposal and eventually they were seen floating by the villagers.

The foetuses were dumped on June 23 and villagers saw it on June 24.

As many as 6 hospitals and scanning centers were investigated.

The 7 foetuses that have been found in bottles have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and the report is awaited.

Sources in the police said it looks like a prima facie case of gender detection and foeticide.
