Karnataka’s 1st & India’s 2nd, alternate route TAVI was successfully performed at Arihant Hospital on 1st November 2022 on a 75 year old lady from Sangola City of Maharashtra. She was admitted with shortness of breath due to severe aortic stenosis since she was cachexic, surgery carried high risk. This non-surgical (TAVI) procedure was carried out by team of doctors led by Dr Anmol Sonawe, Dr M D Dixit, Dr Prabhu Halkati, Dr Prashant M B, Dr Ambrish Nerlikar.
In normal course this procedure is performed through Femoral artery (Groin Vessels) but as her groin vessels very small an alternative route through Carotid Artery (Neck Vessels) was used. Patient withstood the procedure well & is getting discharged 48 hours.
