A shocking case of utter medical negligence at Hakeem Sonuallah Hospital in Sopore has ignited public fury and demands for strict action against the responsible doctor. Dr. Anjum Nazir is facing accusations of mistakenly removing a woman’s uterus during what was supposed to be an ENT procedure.
The incident came to light after news of the botched surgery spread rapidly on social media, prompting an immediate investigation by the health department. A team of officials raided the hospital, further intensifying public anger. Local residents and activists are calling for a lifetime ban on Dr. Nazir’s private practice, citing the unacceptable nature of the alleged negligence. “Such negligence is unacceptable. A lifetime ban on the doctor’s private practice is the least that should be done,” one resident stated.
The Health and Medical Education Department has confirmed the suspension of both Dr. Anjum Nazir, the Gynaecologist involved, and Dr. Tariq Ahmad Dar, the medical officer, following the alleged operation at the private hospital in Sopore on February 3rd.
Health and Medical Education Minister Sakina Itoo confirmed that action has been taken against the two doctors. 1 The incident has raised serious concerns about oversight and safety protocols in private medical facilities within the Kashmir Valley.
