A team of doctors led by Dr. Eshwar Kalaburgi, Dr. Prakash Kattimani, Dr. Roopa Hulakunde & Dr. Archana surgically removed coins of various values weighing 1.5 kilograms from the abdomen of the 58-year-old Male who hails from Lingsugur in Raichur district.
The successful surgery was performed in Hangal Sri Kumareshwar Hospital attached to S. Nijalingappa Medical College, Bagalkot.
The patient is a case of a mental disorder (schizophrenia) complaining of abdomen pain, bloating, omitting sensation and discomfort in the abdomen. In a serious condition, he was shifted to Kumareshwar Hospital, Bagalkot. X-ray investigation revealed multiple coins in the abdomen.
Surgery was performed by Dr. Eshwar Kalburgi and their team who removed all the coins. Surprisingly, the Patient had swallowed a total of 187 coins: 56 coins of ₹5, 51 of ₹2, and 80 of ₹1 over a period of three months.
