The General Insurance Council (GIC) today launched a ground-breaking initiative called “Cashless Everywhere” to significantly expand cashless hospitalization access for policyholders across India. This initiative aims to revolutionize the healthcare experience by allowing policyholders to receive cashless treatment at a wider range of hospitals, including those not formally empanelled with their insurance companies.
Expanded Coverage: Hospitals with a minimum of 15 beds and registered with state health authorities can now offer cashless hospitalization to GIC policyholders, significantly increasing available options beyond the current network of 40,000 empanelled hospitals.
Simplified Process: Policyholders can opt for cashless treatment at non-empanelled hospitals by simply notifying their insurance company 48 hours before or within 48 hours after hospitalization.
Convenience and Choice: This initiative empowers policyholders to choose the hospital that best suits their needs, regardless of network affiliation, offering greater flexibility and peace of mind during critical medical situations.
Streamlined Claims Processing: “Cashless Everywhere” aims to expedite the claims process by minimizing reliance on pre-agreements with specific hospitals, leading to faster and more efficient claim settlements.
Tapan Singhal, Chairman of the GIC and CEO of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, stated: “The council is committed to simplifying the lives of policyholders and introducing initiatives that benefit customers. Cashless Everywhere is a major step forward in ensuring patients receive the treatment they need without financial constraints, regardless of the chosen hospital.”
The GIC believes that “Cashless Everywhere” will be a game-changer for the insurance industry, offering enhanced convenience, choice, and peace of mind to policyholders across India.
