KLES Dr Prabhakar Kore Hospital & MRC Belagavi, Department of ENT & HNS performed two Cochlear Implant surgeries on 10/11/2022 for two children hailing from Raibagh & Belgaum. With this, the hospital has set up another milestone in advanced medical treatment.
Cochlear Implant surgery is performed for permanent childhood deafness in children. This surgery is the only hope for such children who do not get benefitted from hearing aids.
KLEs Dr Prabhakar Kore Hospital & MRC, is the only private hospital in North Karnataka that has been empanelled for Cochlear Implant surgery under Suraksha Arogya Suvarna trust by Karnataka Government. This program was possible because of the constant efforts of Dr. Prabhakar Kore, the Chairman of KLE society.
These critical surgeries were performed by the Mentor Surgeon Dr.Vasanthi Anandh from Bangalore, who is also an alumnus of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum. Dr B.P.Belaldavar, Head of the Department of ENT & HNS, Dr.A.S.Harugop, Dr.Priti S Hajare, Professors of the Department of ENT & HNS, were a part of the team. Dr Kedareshwar from Anaesthesia Department supported the surgeries.
Dr.Priti S Hajare, Co-ordinator of the Cochlear Implant Program, KLES Hospital said that the operations were successful, and the patients would be discharged from the hospital in a few days.
