Difficult JOINT Replacement surgery

 

Extremely complicated hip surgery was performed free on a Patient at KLES charitable hospital.

This patient is a 21-year-old boy suffering from Juvenile Arthritis  (Ankylosing spondylitis :Disease of fused joints.)

Left SIDED THE -TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENT WAS SUCCESSFULLY PERFORMED ON 30 TH OCTOBER BY TEAM OF COMPLEX JOINT REPLACEMENT SUPERSPECIALISTS DR SARANG SHETE AND Dr. Nikhil Manvi along with chief of Unit A Dr. Kiran Patil of Department of Orthopaedics and Anesthetists Dr. Rajesh Mane, Dr. Paurushi Deshmukh, all from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Belagavi. 

The same team had earlier performed successfully Right HIP SURGERY on the same patient on 14th AUG 2019, With Anesthetist Dr. Chaitanya Kamat. It is noteworthy that this patient was not walking for the last 7 to 8 years and steroid-dependent, which had made his bones very soft and osteoporotic. Along with, this owing to Juvenile Arthritis his surgery was complicated and Rehabilitation was very challenging as the patient had both knees in bending deformities.

But this patient has started walking FULL WEIGHT with support in 2 days and as per Dr Sarang Shete, such patients are expected to recover their walking ability fully in 2 to 3 months as like other routine patients.

This combined scheme of the prime minister and Karnataka Govt has a process for which patients can get the benefit up to one lakh Rs for Joint Replacement Surgery.

Dr Sarang has said this will help the needy and poor patients even in complex cases where this type of surgery and technologically advanced multidisciplinary approach was available like any other highly superspecialized hospitals in the world.

It is noteworthy that this was the first free Hybrid type Total Hip Replacement Surgery done under Pradhan Mantris Ayushman Bharat yojana at KLES's Dr. Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital.
